Description

In various countries worldwide, travelers may encounter diseases stemming from unsanitary water, parasites, insects, viruses, and bacteria that are uncommon in the United States. The most effective defense against these potentially life-threatening illnesses involves education, vaccinations, immunizations, and preventive measures.

Before entering certain countries, vaccinations and immunizations are often mandatory. The Miami Travel Clinic offers swift and affordable travel vaccinations and immunizations. Remember, immunization and education serve as crucial components for maintaining health during travel.

It is advisable to plan your visit 4 to 6 weeks before your trip. Most vaccines require time to become effective, and some may be administered in a series over days or weeks.

Even if your departure is less than 4 weeks away, a visit is still beneficial. You may receive vaccinations, medications, and valuable information on protecting yourself from illnesses and injuries while traveling.

The CDC classifies travel vaccines into three categories: routine, recommended, and required. While our doctor will guide you on the necessary vaccinations, it's beneficial to be aware of them beforehand.

Routine Vaccinations:

Ensure you and your family are up-to-date on routine vaccinations, protecting against diseases still prevalent in many parts of the world. Adult vaccines include Yellow Fever, Tetanus-Diphtheria (every 10 years), Influenza (50 and older), Pneumococcal (65 and older), Hepatitis B (at-risk adults), Measles-Mumps-Rubella (susceptible adults), and Varicella (susceptible adults).

Recommended Vaccinations:

These protect against illnesses present in other parts of the world. The necessity depends on factors such as destination, rural exposure, travel season, age, health status, and prior immunizations.

Search by country on the CDC page or check our destinations page for specific recommendations.

Required Vaccinations:

The only vaccine internationally mandated is Yellow Fever for travel to specific countries in sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America. Saudi Arabia requires Meningococcal vaccination for annual travel during the Hajj.
